Oh how far we have come....

Here is a 5MB hard disc from 1956. It weighed over 2000 pounds!


In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a
hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5MB of
data.

By comparison... a CD can hold 700MB, or 140 times more space!

If we keep going at this rate, in another 50 or so years we will have hard drives the size of a mustard seed that hold more information than all the combined libraries of the world.
